But noteworthy thing in Singham, Dabang, Wanted, Ghazini and the likes is the return of the quintessential hindi fillum 'hero'- THE ANGRY YOUNG MAN.
A friend of mine rightly said "the people in India are angry...logon ke andar gussa hai!! specially after 26/11". A valid point! and whats even more remarkable is that today the Heroes don't shy away from venturing into the dark alleys of corruption and immorality themselves to vanquish the villains and wallop the baddies.
He is mad, bad and dangerous yet lovable. The true hero is back instantiating the youth of India who can bend rules to fight the misrule. One who is fearless like the Virat Kohlis of India who instead ignoring the intimidating glances of the West Indian pace man, Fidel Edwards, purses his lips and makes a kissing gesture. One who is not perfect like the Rahul Rajs of the nation who tries to assassinate Raj Thackrey for starting a tirade against his fellow north Indians. One who is angry, merciless yet respectful. One that is within the confines of an archplot. The alter ego of the "aam aadmi" is back. Welcome hero!!!
But the ongoing decimation of single screen theaters has drastically minified the sheer pleasure of movie watching. The buzz, the ambience, the screams, the whistles, the claps, the echo, the gigantic screen, the larger than life experience are being usurped by the impeccable architecture, carpet floors, push-back fluffy seats, eateries and variants of popcorn of the multiplexes. The 'film' here takes the last seat... I recommend the single-screen theaters specially when watching Angry Young Men igniting the silver screen with their kicks, punches and with their kick ass no-nonsense punchy dialogues. .
